Today I had to do a project on a clients’ computer. The computer was running Window 7 Home. So this was the first time I have used Windows 7.

What I found was really interesting. I have been using Window XP since it first came out. The 6 or 7 PC computers that I have all are running XP. When I first opened the store two of the store computers had Vista. My experiences with Vista could be an entire book. Long story short I did not like Vista, it would not do what I needed it to do. After struggling with Vista for several days I rolled those two new computers back to XP, and they have run just fine every since.

I have encountered Vista several times since and each time I just plain did not like the experience.

In fact a few months after the terrible Vista experience I got an Apple Mac Pro, it ran on Tiger for a few months, then Leopard and now Snow Leopard. The MAC operating system is great. Certainly different than the PCs that I have used for many years, there was some things to learn but the bottom line is I really like the Apple MAC OS. It is easy to learn and use and has always been a good experience.

Today I had to do some work on a clients new laptop – running Windows System 7. While I had briefly looked at System 7 I had never actually used it before today. I though it would be a lot like Vista – and that today would be a struggle, I am pleased to say that System 7 is like nothing I have ever used before. System 7 is great, things work the way I expect, the layout make sense. After several hours of doing a whole lot of pretty complex things on the System 7 computer I find I really like it. It looks like Microsoft has a winner with this new operating system. It may be time to begin to think about replacing some of my older XPs with System 7 computers. Actually I was really surprised that I actually like the newest OS from Microsoft.
