If you rent a movie from iTunes you have 29 days to watch it.   Once you start to watch a movie you have 24 hours to finish it.    In 24 hours after you start to watch a movie on the iPhone it is gone.  And yes it is also gone from iTunes on the computer as well.  I did not re sync the iPhone and went to the computer and sure enough the rented movie was gone.  Looks like the iPhone tells iTunes a movie has begun and iTunes will tell your computer.  If you did not finish a movie you will have to either re-rent it or else buy it.

So how it the experience of watching a movie on something as small as an iPhone?  The experience is actually really great.  The movie was sharp and clear – as it happened I rented a movie that was not in English and so I had to read sub titles on the iPhone and it worked out just fine.  Bottom line the iPhone is great movie player – not super so far as audio from the built in speaker but really great audio with the ear buds.  The new remote control on the ear buds can control the movie just like it can control music.  Watching a movie with subtitles is probably the ultimate test.

An interesting thing is if you stop the movie on the iPhone and then go to iTunes on a computer, the movie will start where you left off on the other device.
