The next thing coming from Apple is the upgraded OS in the iPhone. This type of upgrade which involves replacing firmware can be major – the iPhone up grade on my 3GS went perfectly, just like the OS X upgrade on the MAC Pro. There are a lot of new features in the new iPhone OS that make move this device even further out ahead. Everything on the phone worked perfectly after the upgrade. (I have had some “interesting” experiences with other devices when I have attempted to upgrade firmware)

I heard some of the iphones were running hot. If yours was one of them, did the upgrade help?
I also heard that some of the 3GS iPhones ran hot. It can run fairly warm if everything is turned on. 3G, bluetooth, WiFi. I am learning that just to conserve the battery it is best to turn on only what one is using. Actually 3.1 is my second upgrade there was a previous upgrade that fixed some security issue, it seems that the phone runs cooler since that upgrade.
