I took a few days off and away from the store last week to go to the Headley family reunion which was held in Gering Nebraska. Probably no one has heard of Gering – this is a town located in the western panhandle of Nebraska. Scotts Bluff – the town and national monument is there – also Chimney Rock.
To get to Nebraska from here in Kentucky I take I-64 west through Louisville, then across southern Indiana, southern Illinois, and cross the River into Missouri on I-70 west.
Missouri always puzzles me. The state roads have letters rather than numbers. Things like J, M, Y, H, AA, BB – I have not been able to figure this out. The Lettered routes seem to be in no particular order and they also seem to repeat in different parts of the state. I have seen the same lettered routes in different parts of the state and the road do not connect. I have no idea what is up with that.
An interesting thing in Missouri that may be unique is there are no sinks in the rest rooms in the rest areas. They have a wall mounted device instead. You stick you hands in and it first dispenses soap, then warm water followed by hot air. Here is a photo. The only place I have seen this device is Missouri.
